Mother, Grandmother, and an amazing cook!

I started this blog as a place to compile the recipes that my mother used to make. She was one of those instinctive cooks who never needed to measure – she just threw things together and worked miracles. She was born and raised in Japan but was as adept making black-eye-peas and biscuits as she was making shio sake (salted salmon) and rice.
A lifetime of memories with mom seem to center in the kitchen. Here I try to recreate her recipes and share her stories.
